Go Netball, Go Shelley

Welcome to Shelley Netball Club which is a community Netball Club, based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

Established in 1964 by Kath and Brian Worrell, the Club has a fantastic history which you can read about here - http://www.shelleynetball.co.uk/about-us.

The Shelley Netball Club today 2018/2019

We run a popular and lively junior coaching centre at Longdean School, Bennetts End, Hemel Hempstead for girls in school years 7, 8 and 9.  This runs through the Autumn and Spring school terms - September to March.

We run four teams:

Shelley HC play in the Hemel Hempstead Netball League.

Shelley 1 and 2 play in the Watford and District Netball League in Watford.

Shelley Under 14 play in the Kath Worrell Junior League in Watford.

The Club is run by a small committee of volunteers, supported by a merry band of fantastic parents and fellow Netball fans.  Any offers of help, big or small are gratefully received.

Our Policies and Procedures can be found under the Our Club tab.

We are currently reviewing our social media accounts, to best promote the club and celebrate our love of netball.

Purpose of the coaching sessions and expectations

The club is open to girls of all abilities who love to play netball. Each session is led by UKCC Level 2 qualified netball coaches and focus on developing skills in a fun and safe environment, with time in each session to use the skills in a game situation. We welcome volunteers to help out in sessions, especially those who would like to work towards a coaching or umpiring qualification.

We expect all participants to arrive promptly, ready to play in appropriate sportswear and trainers. Fingernails should be short to avoid injury and no jewellery should be worn. Please bring water to drink during the session.

We expect parents to pick up their daughters promptly at the end of the session and to let us know in writing if their daughter will be going home alone or be waiting alone for a parent to collect.

Essential paperwork

Parents must fill in the club registration form fully, including an email address, as this is the way coaches will contact participants in case of cancellation or changes to sessions. We also need a mobile telephone number, so we can contact parents during the session in case of an emergency. It is important to fill in details about any medical condition or disability which may affect a girl’s ability to participate fully in the sessions.

Club size and costs

We have a limit of 24 participants for each session.  The cost is £65 for the term and will be payable by the second session to give girls a chance to try it out before committing. Please pay by cash, by cheque payable to Shelley Netball Club, or by bank transfer to account number 73275181 sort code 090155. If paying by bank transfer please add the reference of your daughter’s initial and surname plus LCC, e.g. PJonesLCC.  If we have more girls wanting to join than spaces available, we will look at allocating places in a fair way, but will give priority to those who attended regularly last term. Shelley Netball Club is committed to providing opportunities for all girls to develop in the sport, and we do not want anyone to miss out on participating due to financial reasons, so contact Alison Westwood on 07721655225 for a confidential discussion about making the sessions more affordable if needed.
